About the venue

Theater an der Ruhr is an independent repertory theatre in Mülheim an der Ruhr, founded in 1981 by Roberto Ciulli, who shaped it into one of Germany's most distinctive stages. It is housed in a late-19th-century villa on the banks of the Ruhr river. The ensemble is known for its poetic, visually rich productions and a long tradition of international co-productions and touring.
