Cheikh Lô is a Senegalese musician born in 1955 in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. He began his career with the Volta Jazz ensemble, drawing on Cuban music and Congolese rumba. His style blends mbalax, afrobeat, salsa and reggae. He gained international recognition with the album Né la Thiass (1996), released on the World Circuit label.
