Kronos Quartet is an American string quartet founded in 1973 in San Francisco. It is known for its pioneering approach to contemporary music, blending classical tradition with world music, jazz, and experimental genres. The ensemble has commissioned hundreds of new works from composers worldwide, including the project "UNIKO" by Finnish accordionist Kimmo Pohjonen.
