Vigüela is a Spanish folk ensemble from the province of Toledo. Since the 1980s, the group has been researching and reviving the traditional music of El Carpio de Tajo, drawing on archives, family memories, and the singing of the oldest local inhabitants. The ensemble emerged as a response to the Franco era, during which folk music was stripped of its local context and co-opted by state propaganda.
