Witold Gombrowicz (1904–1969) was a Polish writer and playwright whose work significantly influenced 20th-century European literature. He is the author of the absurdist play Iwona, Princess of Burgundia (1938), the novel Ferdydurke, and other works exploring themes of identity, form, and social convention. He spent much of his life in exile in Argentina and France.
