PAN TADEUSZ. THE LAST GATHERING
Animation Theatre in Poznań, Poland
The performance draws on Adam Mickiewicz's "Pan Tadeusz" - the poet who arrived too late for the uprising and, along with other exiles, tormented by guilt and longing for his homeland, chose to act through his pen. Soplicowo is an idyllic, almost perfect place inhabited by imperfect people: Poles eat, drink, gather mushrooms, and wait for the French to create a homeland for them.
The creators approach Mickiewicz's work with tragicomic irony, biting at today's reality. Who were we as a nation and who are we now? What drives our patriotism and can we speak with one voice? The main voice is given to the artists themselves - questioning the meaning of the myth of exile, longing, and dying for one's country in our times.
Recommended for viewers aged 14 and above. Premiere: 21.05.2022.
