Osiem Dni Teatr / Pion(ier)ki / Teatr 3.5 — Teatr Ósmego Dnia w Poznaniu, Poznań

"Pion(ier)ki" is a solo performance based on the stories of the first female tractor drivers - women who defied the conventions of a male-dominated world.

The show tells of determined, hardworking and ambitious women who, pursuing careers assigned to men, became pioneers and tools of Polish communist propaganda. They believed they were changing the world, that they could be equal to men - against the customs and beliefs of their time about women's role. The fall of communism swept them into the dustbin of history. Forgotten heroines? Communists? A social experiment? Perhaps - though they never called themselves that - feminists?

The performance is built from interviews, articles and recordings. Though rooted in stories of the past, "Pion(ier)ki" also asks a question about the present: what place does a woman occupy in society today, who is she and what is her world?
