DANCE OF THE SOUL, MUSIC OF THE HEART // Niranjan/Nowacki/Purandare

On the stage of Scena Robocza, artists from India and Poland will meet in a programme combining classical Indian dance with live music. Bharatanatyam will be performed by Apeksha Niranjan – a dancer and choreographer from Mumbai, whose art unites the precision of classical form with openness to new musical and cultural contexts. She will be accompanied by the sounds of sitar, tabla and clarinet, as well as singing inspired by Indian music.
The evening also has a personal dimension: Apeksha Niranjan's grandmother was Polish and found refuge in India during wartime migration. After the performance, there will be an opportunity to speak with the artist about these family roots and whether they became an inspiration for her work dedicated to Polish-Indian relations.
