On the Island / Gosia Dębska, Anita Piotrowska, Wiktor Klimaszewski / Festival of the Youngest 2026
Imperial Castle in Poznań, Poland
"On the Island" is a performative action set within the "Island" installation — an event combining curatorial guidance with movement improvisation, rich in sound and movement experiences. The space has an open character: participants can act together with others or solo. The artists use seemingly unnecessary objects and natural materials to build an imagined biosphere, where every gesture, sound, and object gains new life.
Viewers — especially children — can touch, arrange, and create elements of the island, becoming full co-creators. In the space, guides (Gosia Dębska, Anita Piotrowska, and Daniel Michna) work together with children and their adult companions. The world created on the island builds a partnership dialogue with children about the surrounding world from the very beginning.
The project emerged from the need to discuss environmental pollution through art and to involve children in the creative process — in line with sustainable development principles. The creators do not have ready-made answers, but count on finding them together.
