Hania Rani and John Akomfrah | Listening All Night To The Rain | Fotofestiwal 2026

On June 18, at the opening of Fotofestiwal in Łódź (celebrating its 25th anniversary), Hania Rani will present a live performance — a composition for piano and percussion plates, written especially for this event. Her music will enter into dialogue with John Akomfrah's eight-screen, seventeen-channel sound installation titled Listening All Night To The Rain, shown in Poland for the first time. The installation was originally created for the British Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2022. For the next three days of the festival, a recorded version will be available.

John Akomfrah — philosopher, artist, and one of the key figures of contemporary video art — has been creating political and collective art since founding the Black Audio Film Collective in 1982. His installation creates a poetic space in which images and sounds surround the viewer from all sides.

The event takes place at Fuzja (Elektrownia Rodziny Scheiblerów, ul. Tymienieckiego 11d). Before the concert, at 6:00 PM, the opening of Fotofestiwal 2026 will be held at Art_Inkubatorze/Fabryka Sztuki at ul. Tymienieckiego 3.

Entrance: 21:30–21:50 | Concert: 22:00–22:30 (30 min). Doors close promptly — entry after this time will not be possible. The concert will be recorded; by purchasing a ticket and attending the event, you consent to the recording and distribution of your image.
