THE CASUALTIES | Warsaw
Klub Hydrozagadka, Warsaw, Poland
The biggest mohawks and spikes on the American street punk scene? That's The Casualties, of course! The band led by Marc Eggers and Jake Kolatis will perform in Poland three times: June 10 at Zaścianek in Kraków, June 30 at 2Progi in Poznań, and July 1 at Hydrozagadka in Warsaw.
The Casualties were formed in 1990 with a mission to revive true, street-level punk rock—the more aggressive kind, and above all, one that takes a critical stance toward reality. Musically, the band drew inspiration from the British scene and acts like The Exploited, GBH, The Varukers, and Sex Pistols. The New York outfit combines aggression with catchiness and a distinctive message, which they felt was lacking in the newly emerging bands calling themselves punk rock.
Many musicians have passed through The Casualties' lineup, but since the early 1990s, the band's backbone has remained guitarist Jake Kolatis and drummer Marc Eggers. This year, The Casualties released their first album in 8 years—"Detonate"—which is also the second album in their discography to feature vocalist David Rodriguez.
