Charismatic Kristina Esfandiari returns to Warsaw with her King Woman project and will perform on October 5 at Klub Hydrozagadka.
Kris Esfandiari, also known from projects like NGHTCRWLR, Dalmatian, Miserable, and Sugar High, has been composing under the King Woman moniker since 2009. After some time, drummer Joseph Raygoza joined her, and in 2015 their debut EP "Doubt" was released on The Flenser label. The band then signed with Relapse Records and released their first full-length album "Created in The Image of Suffering", which Pitchfork recognized as one of the best rock releases of 2017.
Two years later, under the guidance of Grammy-nominated producer Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Amenra, Oathbreaker), the album "Celestial Blues" was recorded and ultimately released in July 2021. Emotionally charged, the record seamlessly blends elements of doom metal, shoegaze, and slowcore, showcasing Esfandiari's impressive vocal range. The track "Psychic Wound" from the album and the new composition "Bury" were featured in the soundtrack to the film "I Saw the TV Glow" produced by A24 (directed by Jane Schoenbrun).
