Marcus Miller | We Want Miles!

In 2026, for four weeks in July, the ensemble will embark on a unique concert tour celebrating the 100th anniversary of Miles Davis's birth – one of the most important figures in the history of jazz and 20th-century music.

The "We Want Miles!" project draws inspiration from Miles Davis's legendary live album "We Want Miles!" recorded in Japan in 1981, as well as from classic compositions spanning his most celebrated creative periods – from the 1950s and 1960s through the final stages of his career, including the albums "Tutu" (1986) and "Amandla" (1989).

As Marcus Miller promises: "Of course, we'll draw from music across all the key periods of Miles's career, but I also want – with these extraordinary musicians – to take this music into the future and explore directions that Miles would certainly appreciate today." Miller continues: "Miles never looked back – he was always focused on what lay ahead. (...) I'm truly excited that we can come together again in this lineup to pay tribute to Miles."

Marcus Miller's "We Want Miles!" project promises to be an exceptional, energetic, and emotionally resonant musical celebration – a tribute to an artist who not only transformed the face of jazz but profoundly influenced the entire history of music. It is a celebration of Miles Davis's legacy and his enduring inspiration for generations of musicians.
