The Sorcerers

The Sorcerers is an instrumental ensemble from Leeds drawing inspiration from the golden age of ethio-jazz, infusing it with a cinematic character and anchoring the sound in hypnotic grooves. Fascinated by the extraordinary Addis Ababa scene of the 1960s and 1970s, the musicians blend multilayered melodies, swirling textures and deep rhythmic foundations, creating music that is both timeless and distinctly contemporary.

Described by DistritoJazz magazine as "one of the most innovative ensembles of contemporary ethio-jazz," The Sorcerers take listeners on hypnotic instrumental journeys. Their work moves fluidly between cosmic library funk, spiritual jazz and evocative, cinematic soundscapes, crafting a concert experience rich in atmosphere, energy and musical imagination.
