Fryderyk Chopin (1810–1849) was a Polish composer and pianist, one of the central figures of musical Romanticism. He is celebrated for his mazurkas, polonaises, nocturnes, and études, which remain cornerstones of the classical piano repertoire. He spent most of his creative life in Paris.
