Description was written before the event

The National Philharmonic Orchestra under conductor Nicolas Ellis performs at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw on Saturday, 31 October 2026 at 6 p.m. This is one of nine concerts the orchestra has scheduled across Poland in October and November. The programme features works by Rautavaara, Hillborg, and Rameau with Rebel, alongside clarinetist Martin Fröst in a concerto. The National Philharmonic on Jasna Street is Poland's oldest and most important concert hall; its neoclassical building, opened in 1955, stands at the heart of the country's musical life.

About: Nicolas Ellis

Nicolas Ellis is a Canadian conductor who has established himself as one of the more distinctive young voices of his generation. He serves as principal guest conductor of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal and works regularly with major orchestras across Europe and North America. Alongside the standard repertoire, he creates his own arrangements - his Cosmic Symphony draws on music by Rameau and Rebel.

About: Martin Fröst

Martin Fröst is a Swedish clarinettist widely regarded as one of the most distinctive voices on his instrument in classical music today. He combines technical mastery with a strong theatrical presence, often weaving movement and gesture into his performances. Anders Hillborg's clarinet concerto Peacock Tales was written specifically for him.
