MATS GUSTAFSSON, OREN AMBARCHI and ALF JACKSON meet here for the first time as a trio - three musicians from the international improvisation scene who have never played together in this combination before.
Mats Gustafsson (Sweden) has been a defining presence at the intersection of free jazz, noise and experimental rock for decades. His playing - shaped by circular breathing, extended techniques and raw physical intensity - has driven projects like Fire! and produced collaborations with Sonic Youth and Peter Brötzmann. Oren Ambarchi (Australia) approaches the guitar less as a melodic instrument than as a source of textures, vibrations and electroacoustic phenomena: subtle feedback loops, percussive patterns, minimalist structures somewhere between drone and free improvisation. Long-running partnerships with Keiji Haino, Jim O'Rourke and John Zorn speak to his stylistic range. Tasmanian drummer Alf Jackson brings an energy that is as physical as it is organic - pulsing, unpredictable, with repetitive motions and eruptive bursts that push the drum kit as a resonating body to its limits.
Gustafsson's raw expressivity, Ambarchi's finely calibrated sound surfaces and Jackson's rhythmic drive promise open, high-intensity improvised music - dense and forceful, yet punctuated by moments of fragile quiet.
