Mats Gustafsson is a Swedish saxophonist and improviser, one of the most prominent figures in European avant-garde and free jazz. He is known for his intense, highly expressive playing style and collaborations with musicians such as Peter Brötzmann and the group The Thing. He has released dozens of recordings and performs at festivals worldwide.
