JAZZ PO POLSKU: Meeting by Chance

As part of the JAZZ PO POLSKU "Warsaw Live Sessions" project, another concert will take place featuring leading figures from the Polish jazz scene and international guests.

Meeting By Chance is the solo project of Marcin Cichy, co-founder of the duo Skalpel. While Skalpel became known for processing jazz samples, here Cichy turns toward ambient, IDM, and classical electronics. He is also a respected producer - he has collaborated with Lil Peep on the EP "Changes", among others.

The album "Time Deception" combines inspiration from ambient, 1980s electronics, IDM, and dub techno into a narrative about time, memory, and perception. Looped sequences, emerging and fading rhythms, and spatial melodies create a sound reminiscent of Vangelis, Brian Eno, or Ryūichi Sakamoto. The character of the record is well captured by the single "Too Far", in which piano, vocal samples, ambient textures, and a pulsing bass meet with live, dynamic drums. The project's name references Duane Michals' photo series "Meeting By Chance" - about chance, lost moments, and belated recognition. The album guides the listener from darker, dub-influenced landscapes toward brighter compositions such as "Eden" and "View".
