The Thief

A new production with a fresh cast.

After a formal dinner, John and Barbara return with friends - Jenny and Trevor - to a luxurious country house. They discover they have been robbed. The phone is dead, Barbara has had too much to drink, and danger still hangs in the air. This time the friends are united not by a cocktail party, but by a shared threat. As evening falls, facts emerge that the characters would prefer to hide. What is in the safe? Why does Trevor always lose, and why does Barbara conceal her birth certificate? What lies hidden in the locket? Has something more precious than jewels and money been stolen?

Bold plot twists lead to a surprising finale, and from the fast-paced story emerges a question: do our secrets affect our relationships with others? This play was written by Eric Chappell - the author of the work, creator of screenplays for successful English comedy series and recipient of a British Academy Film Award.
