A Dream of the City
Castle Courtyard in Lublin, Poland
The open-air spectacle "A Dream of the City", directed by Janusz Opryński, returns to the National Museum Courtyard in a new incarnation, evoking the title of European Capital of Culture 2029.
Inspired by "A Poem About the City of Lublin" by Józef Czechowicz, the spectacle tells the story of Lublin - a place that has lain at the crossroads of cultures, religions, and nations for centuries. The turbulent history of the city is presented by circus artists and acrobats: those balancing on ropes and dancing on celestial scarves. The scenography was created by Jarosław Koziara, the music by Rafał Rozmus. The historical narration is read by Zbigniew Dziduch, and fragments of Czechowicz's poetry are presented by Dorota Landowska.
⏱️ The castle gates open from 19:20. We ask you to arrive early and take your seat in sector A or B according to the information on your ticket.
♿ The spectacle is realized with accessibility in mind: a platform has been prepared for people with limited mobility, full translation into Polish Sign Language, a designated zone for families with children, and English translation available.
⚠️ The spectacle also addresses difficult themes from the region's recent history - the pandemic and the outbreak of full-scale war in Ukraine.
