The Ambassador

"The Ambassador" by Sławomir Mrożek, directed by Jarosław Gajewski, is a performance where absurd humour intertwines with serious reflection, comedy with tragedy, farce with drama.

"People are ruled by passions, so to rule people, one must rule their passions".

The drama was created in the 1980s. Though it clearly references the realities of the Cold War, it poses questions equally relevant today: the titular protagonist must confront irreversible changes in his once perfectly ordered life - his wife's departure and, above all, the loss of the state that formed the foundation of his existence. In August 2023, ten years had passed since Mrożek's death; the creators turned to this work because of the key values it contains for his entire body of work - self-respect, honour, and fidelity to ideals.

Andrzej Mastalerz plays the title role. His partners are: Dariusz Kowalski as the Man, Bartosz Turzyński as the Plenipotentiary, Małgorzata Mikołajczak as Amelié, and Maciej Wyczański as Othello.

Duration: 2 hours (with intermission).

Discounted tickets are available for students, seniors over 60, people with disabilities, and holders of the Large Family Card. Holders of the National Senior Card (OKS) receive a 5% discount.
