Unwashed Souls / Narcotics
Nałęczowski Ośrodek Kultury, Nałęczów, Poland
A monodrama based on texts by Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz - essays from the collections "Narcotics" and "Unwashed Souls". Director Anna Kękuś reads these texts as a commentary on the condition of modern humanity: the inclination to escape the pain of existence, the power unleashed by intoxicating substances, and the boundary between reality and hallucination. Witkacy's irony and dark humour serve the production as a tool for speaking about the tragedy and absurdity of existence.
Sebastian Fabijański plays the role of Everyman, combining acting with music. His portrayal traces the protagonist's journey through self-destruction toward catharsis.
Duration: 55 minutes.
Warning: the performance uses strobe lighting.
Reduced-price tickets are available for students, seniors over 60, people with disabilities, and holders of the Large Family Card.
The production was selected for the X Competition for Staging Classical Works of Polish and European Literature "Living Classics". Details: www.klasykazywa.pl.
