Aki Takase is a Japanese jazz pianist from Osaka who has been based in Berlin for many years and is a key figure in the European free improvisation scene. She has collaborated with Alexander von Schlippenbach, Han Bennink and many others. Her playing draws on free jazz, classical music and Japanese musical tradition.
