Alexander von Schlippenbach is a German jazz pianist and composer born in 1938 in Berlin. A key figure in European free jazz, he founded the Globe Unity Orchestra in 1966 - one of the continent's first large-scale free improvisation ensembles. He has worked closely with musicians such as Evan Parker and Günter Sommer over many decades.
