Alban Berg (1885-1935) was an Austrian composer and a central figure of the Second Viennese School. He studied under Arnold Schönberg and adopted twelve-tone technique while keeping a strong sense of lyrical expression. His operas Wozzeck and Lulu brought him lasting international recognition.
