Azymuth is a Brazilian trio from Rio de Janeiro that has been blending jazz-funk with samba since the late 1960s, forging their own genre they call "samba doido". Over more than fifty years the group has released over thirty albums and remains one of the most influential names in Brazilian fusion. Bassist Alex Malheiros is the sole surviving founding member.
