Bill Frisell Trio
Jazz guitarist Bill Frisell and his trio perform in Linz. A concert full of expression and improvisation.
Bill Frisell is an American guitarist and composer whose career spans more than four decades and whose catalog has been cited by DownBeat as "the best recorded output of the decade." His music moves fluidly across jazz, folk, country, Americana, and avant-garde - always anchored by a warm, cinematic guitar tone that is instantly recognizable. He has been an inaugural Doris Duke Artist (2012), a Resident Artistic Director at SFJAZZ, and the subject of both a documentary film and a biography titled Beautiful Dreamer: The Guitarist Who Changed the Sound of American Music. His fifth Blue Note album, In My Dreams, was released in February 2026 to mark his 75th birthday.
Frisell released In My Dreams on Blue Note Records on February 27, 2026, his fifth album for the label, featuring a sextet of longtime collaborators including Jenny Scheinman, Eyvind Kang, and Hank Roberts.
In My Dreams was released to coincide with Frisell's 75th birthday and received a Metacritic score of 78/100.
Frisell has concerts scheduled at the HR Sendesaal in Frankfurt, Germany in February 2027.
Frisell released Breaking the Shell in September 2024 on Red Hook Records, a collaborative trio album with pipe organist Kit Downes and drummer Andrew Cyrille.
