Dead Meadow is an American psychedelic and stoner rock band from Washington, D.C., active since 1998. Built around guitarist and vocalist Jason Simon, the trio fused heavy 1970s riffs with 1960s psychedelia and a D.C. punk DIY ethos, earning a devoted cult following across two decades and ten studio albums. Their early records on Fugazi bassist Joe Lally's Tolotta label - including the landmark Howls from the Hills - drew the attention of John Peel, who invited them to record a session; they became the first band in the session's history to record it outside the BBC studios. The 2025 album Voyager to Voyager, released on Heavy Psych Sounds, stands as the final recording with founding bassist Steve Kille, who died of cancer in early 2024.
