Fanfare Ciocărlia is a twelve-piece Romani brass band from the village of Zece Prăjini in northeastern Romania, playing at tempos that can exceed 200 beats per minute. Discovered in 1996 by German music enthusiast Henry Ernst, the band broke internationally with their 1998 debut Radio Pașcani and are widely credited with sparking the global Balkan brass revival. Over three decades they have released ten albums - several topping the European World Music charts - and played more than 3,000 concerts across 70+ countries, including a performance at the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo.
