Farin Urlaub on Travel - with Jochen Schliemann
Farin Urlaub and Jochen Schliemann share travel stories, photographs, and personal experiences at the rbb studio in Berlin.
Farin Urlaub (born Jan Vetter, 1963 in West Berlin) is a German guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, best known as a founding member of the punk rock band Die Ärzte - one of the most successful German rock acts of the past four decades. Since 2001 he has also pursued a solo career under the Farin Urlaub Racing Team banner, writing satirical, politically sharp songs that sit somewhere between punk and Neue Deutsche Welle. Away from music, he is a serious travel photographer who has crossed Africa, India, Australia and beyond by jeep, publishing several large-format photo books from his journeys.
Farin Urlaub released the solo single 'Happy 2bD' on 24 April 2026 - his first solo music in twelve years - and announced a new solo album for autumn 2026.
Die Ärzte announced a major 'Eine Gänsehaut nach dem andern!' arena tour for spring 2027, covering Germany, Austria and Switzerland; most dates sold out within minutes of going on sale on 15 April 2026.
Three additional Die Ärzte tour dates for 2027 were announced (Cologne and Dresden), with returned tickets going back on sale on 1 July 2026.
Farin Urlaub gave sold-out travel-photography talks in Berlin (Urania) about his Ethiopia journey, presented together with journalist Jochen Schliemann.
