About

Flamin' Groovies are an American rock band from San Francisco, formed in 1965 by guitarist Cyril Jordan and singer Roy Loney. Deliberately out of step with the psychedelic era around them, they built their sound on 1950s rock and roll, early R&B and British Invasion pop - a combination that made them cult heroes long before punk and power pop caught up with them. Their 1976 album Shake Some Action, produced by Dave Edmunds, is widely regarded as a landmark of power pop, and the band has been cited as one of the forerunners of punk rock.
