Freshlyground is a South African band from Cape Town that blends afropop, folk and jazz with Zimbabwean musical influences. They reached a global audience through Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), recorded with Shakira as the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The group formed in 2002 and draws its members from across southern Africa.
