Mamma Mia! is a jukebox musical built around the songs of Swedish pop group ABBA, with a book by Catherine Johnson and direction by Phyllida Lloyd. It premiered at London's Prince Edward Theatre on 6 April 1999 and has run continuously in the West End ever since, making it the third longest-running musical in West End history. Produced by Judy Craymer, the show has been staged in over 50 productions across 16 languages and seen live by more than 70 million people worldwide, spawning two record-breaking film adaptations in 2008 and 2018.
The London production extended its booking period to 13 March 2027 at the Novello Theatre, celebrating its 27th anniversary.
Mamma Mia! returned to Broadway for a limited six-month run at the Winter Garden Theatre, its original New York home, from 2 August 2025 to 1 February 2026.
