About

Miles Davis (1926-1991) was an American trumpeter, bandleader, and composer who stood at the forefront of jazz for nearly five decades. He shaped bebop, cool jazz, modal jazz, and jazz fusion in turn - each time pulling the music somewhere it had not been before. His 1959 album Kind of Blue remains the best-selling jazz record of all time, and along with Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and Charlie Parker he is regarded as one of the four most important figures in jazz history.
