The Stuttgarter Kammerorchester (SKO) is a German chamber orchestra founded in Stuttgart in 1945 by conductor Karl Münchinger, who led it for over four decades. Built on a reputation for historically informed Bach and Baroque performance, the orchestra has since broadened its scope to span repertoire from the early Baroque to newly commissioned works. Since 2019, Austrian conductor and violinist Thomas Zehetmair has served as chief conductor, steering the ensemble toward an ambitious Beethoven symphony cycle and cross-genre digital projects.
Thomas Zehetmair's contract as chief conductor was extended a second time, now running through 2029, tied to the ongoing Beethoven symphony project.
The SKO embarked on a China tour (6-19 September 2026), performing in Beijing, Shanghai, Wuxi, Taizhou and other cities.
