The Slackers are an American ska band formed in Manhattan, New York, in 1991, built around vocalist and organist Vic Ruggiero and a six-piece lineup that also includes saxophone, trombone, guitar, upright bass and drums. Their sound draws on 1960s Jamaican rocksteady and roots reggae rather than the punk-leaning third-wave mainstream, weaving in soul, dub and jazz to produce something distinctly their own. Over more than three decades they have released over a dozen studio albums and logged roughly 90 live shows a year across North America, Europe, South America and Japan. Their 2022 album 'Don't Let The Sunlight Fool Ya' reached number one on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart - the first time a Slackers record had ever charted.
