Simplicissimus

A staged reading with Carsten Dittrich and Friedemann A. Nawroth.

For 30 years the Thirty Years' War raged. Then it ended. But in that time I lost my parents, yet learned to read and write, became a court jester, a soldier, a ladies' man who lived through amorous adventures, and a treasure hunter in this topsy-turvy world where everything is turned upside down. Alas, woe and woe again for all eternity. But it was fun nonetheless! And so I want to tell you about my turbulent life.

Grimmelshausen's "adventurous Simplicissimus Teutsch" is known to (almost) everyone - yet hardly anyone has actually read it. Carsten Dittrich and Friedemann A. Nawroth want to change that: the two actors take on the reading - as colourful, wild, raw, tattered and full of tricks as the novel itself.
