Acoustic Groove Experience - Grenzenlos
Korbmacher-Museum Dalhausen, Beverungen, Germany
18 €
Featuring Tony Kaltenberg (guitar), Michael Manring (bass) and Jarrod Kaplan (percussion) - in collaboration with Dorfverein Dalhausen.
Acoustic Groove Experience brings together three musicians, each regarded as an innovator on their instrument. Though separated by the Atlantic, they have worked together in the studio and on stage for more than two decades - somewhere between folk, jazz and new age, with Manring's bass as the lead instrument.
Michael Manring is widely recognized as a leading solo bassist who has spent four decades expanding the boundaries of his instrument. Across hundreds of recordings and thousands of concerts worldwide, he has made his musical mark. His collaboration with guitarist Michael Hedges was pivotal, making him the house bassist for the Windham Hill label. Jarrod Kaplan drives the trio's groove with a genre-defying approach as a percussionist deeply rooted in the acoustic scene around Seattle. Tony Kaltenberg lives near Dalhausen and has been a frequent guest at the Korbmacher-Museum; his percussive style - often featuring shimmering arpeggios and two-handed tapping - marks him as Michael Hedges' successor. He is also the composer of most of the trio's pieces.
Two to three times a year, the three musicians meet on one side of the Atlantic to develop their musical collaboration further. Now they return to Dalhausen for the second time.
