GOGOL BORDELLO
From Ukraine to New York: a global punk uprising

Since 1999, the international punk band Gogol Bordello - led by Ukrainian frontman Eugene Hütz - has been filling venues with an energy that could power a whole city. Their latest album "We Mean It, man!" is no different, blending punk, hardcore, synth punk and gypsy music.

Hütz grew up in Ukraine with a lifelong passion for punk, and finally found his footing in New York's Lower East Side in the late 90s - first as a concertgoer, then as a performer at the legendary CBGB. His group steadily grew into an 8-piece multicultural band weaving together Eastern European, Western and Latin American traditions.

Russia's war against Ukraine is personal for Eugene and the band. They tirelessly advocate for solidarity with Ukraine, work with Nova Ukraine and ArtDopomoga, and organise benefit concerts alongside Patti Smith, The Hold Steady and others.

UNORDNUNGSAMT

Unordnungsamt has no interest in law and order, dull rules, rigid boundaries, bureaucracy, stages full of men and their careers and crises, or stereotypes and cookie-cutter band bios. Whether they make music AGAINST all that, or rather FOR everything else worth celebrating - they honestly don't know.

Six people - on equal footing, with no compass and no plan - armed with accordion, electric guitar, clarinet, drums, viola, banjo and bass, they play somewhere between punk, folk, folk-punk, ska, pop, Latin, polka, Balkan beats and tango. Worth watching and worth dancing to.
