Musiker up Stippvisit - Literatöne

"Musiker up Stippvisit" is the new concert series from Niederdeutsches Theater Aurich. Every second Tuesday of odd-numbered months, a different musical theme takes centre stage - featuring musicians mostly from the region, with occasional guests from further afield.

This time: the duo Literatöne. The starting point is a WDR project from May 2000, in which listeners and readers were asked about their favourite poem; the hundred most popular appeared in 2003 in the anthology "Die Lieblingsgedichte der Deutschen". Aurich-based musician Heinrich Herlyn has set around twenty of these texts to music.

Heinrich Herlyn (vocals) and Patrick Pagendarm (piano) move between art song, jazz and chanson, bringing poems by Hesse and Hebbel, Kästner and Kaléko to life. Reflective moments alternate with dry wit - as when verses by Christian Morgenstern or Joachim Ringelnatz come alive in Herlyn's settings.
