Summer Lectures XL "KI für kleinere und mittlere Archive in NRW"

An online lecture with discussion as part of the Summer Lectures XL series, focusing on "AI for smaller and medium-sized archives in North Rhine-Westphalia".

The programme features three presentations: Dominic Eickhoff (LWL-Archivamt) covers text recognition, image segmentation and data post-processing. Sarah Rudolf (LVR-AFZ) addresses OCR4all along with cost, data protection and IT security considerations for open-source AI. Tim Westphal (Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities / innovarchiveminds) presents the capture of collection index cards using Vision Language Models (VLMs) and the possibilities of AI-assisted archival finding aids with Large Language Models (LLMs).
