Songs and letters by Hugo Wolf and Pauline Viardot and others
When one thinks of musical settings of Mörike's poetry, Hugo Wolf immediately comes to mind. After all, he left behind 53 Mörike songs that are true masterpieces. Yet the fact that French composer Pauline Viardot also wrote a dozen wonderful Mörike songs is little known. Now these Mörike songs will be performed for the first time as a cycle, conceived by musicologist and Viardot expert Prof. Dr. Natasha Loges. In a Mörike Time Capsule, Dr. Gunilla Eschenbach from DLA Marbach presents, alongside letters by Pauline Viardot from the Mörike Berge collection, the newly expanded "Family Archive of the Schmid and Kauffmann musician families," which contains, among other things, manuscripts by Emil Kauffmann, the University of Tübingen's music director, who maintained friendly relations with both Eduard Mörike and Hugo Wolf.
In collaboration with the International Hugo Wolf Academy.
