Wenn Overbeck kommt.... - Crime Reading with Roland Jankowsky — Friedrich-Wolf-Theater, Eisenhüttenstadt

Roland Jankowsky has been a familiar face from various TV formats for many years. Whenever his schedule allows, he finds his way back to the stage. It is his somewhat peculiar detective Overbeck who helped turn the ZDF series "Wilsberg" into a cult favourite, drawing an ever-growing fanbase despite the many blunders the character keeps stumbling into. In his reading, however, Jankowsky steers well clear of them.

Drawing on years of experience as a radio presenter and narrator, Roland Jankowsky reads aloud a selection of crime short stories. His "alter ego" seems to tag along even here - settling "uninvited" at the reading desk and commenting on the performance with distinctive body language, the occasional aside, and a well-placed witticism. A subtle interplay between reader and actor gradually unfolds, giving the audience something quietly amusing to watch and turning the whole evening into a winking, enjoyable show.

Jankowsky's crime reading won the audience award Goldene Berta at the Eifelkulturtagen 2016.
