Alena Baeva ranks among the most remarkable violinists of her generation. Making her debut with the MDR Symphony Orchestra, she takes on a dual role - performing as soloist and leading the ensemble through two cornerstones of the Baroque violin repertoire. Mozart's delightful Divertimento KV 136 rounds out the programme; he wrote it at sixteen for his new Salzburg employer, Archbishop Colloredo. The overarching theme of this year's MDR-Musiksommer runs through both the imagery of Vivaldi's Four Seasons and - with a wink - Telemann's A major Concerto subtitled Die Relinge (= frogs).
