Violinist Alena Baeva makes her debut with the MDR Symphony Orchestra, taking on the dual role of soloist and ensemble director. The programme centres on two pillars of Baroque violin repertoire: Telemann's Concerto in A major with its tongue-in-cheek subtitle "Die Relinge" (= frogs) and Vivaldi's Four Seasons - both touching on the overarching theme of this year's MDR-Musiksommer.

Rounding out the evening is Mozart's Divertimento KV 136, which he wrote at sixteen for his new Salzburg employer, Archbishop Colloredo.
