Pippo Pollina, a Sicilian cantautore living in Switzerland, is a committed pacifist. A former conscientious objector, he has repeatedly condemned abuse of power through his music and advocated for humanity and peace. Now, at a time when war features in our daily news, this successful singer-songwriter dedicates an entire album to the theme of war and peace - Fra guerra e pace (Between War and Peace). "War is a dimension from which humanity has never truly freed itself. A place where destruction and annihilation intertwine with other events of life. With love, birth, hunger and thirst," the artist writes in the album's foreword. Pippo Pollina takes us on a journey through this sonically and thematically rich album, encountering the people behind the headlines we hear every day. We meet fears, pain and sorrow, but also hope, love and poetry.

Fra guerra e pace is exceptional in many ways. Its detailed, multifaceted music - at times hymnic, at times archaic - immediately captivates us. The song titles and lyrics confront us with harrowing history and contemporary reality. La notte dei cristalli (Kristallnacht) is a song he created for this album together with his two children, who are also singer-songwriters.
