Scholarship Concert of the Albert Eckstein Foundation
Wolfgang-Eychmüller-Haus, Vöhringen, Germany
26 €
The Albert Eckstein Foundation was established in 2005 by Rolf Eckstein and named after his father, Albert Eckstein, who came from a distinguished family of musicians. Albert Eckstein, who settled in Vöhringen in 1935, took up the violin as a child and over his lifetime assembled a remarkable collection of string instruments. That collection now forms the heart of the foundation, which lends top-quality instruments to exceptionally gifted young musicians from around the world.
The evening is led by Alexander Grotov - principal violinist of the Chamber Orchestra Louis Spohr and member of the Staatsorchesters Kassel - with Tamilla Guliyeva at the piano. Highlights include the talented cellist brothers Zeljko and Dragos Tamburic from Serbia, and the 15-year-old Viktoria Höck, a scholarship holder from Burlafingen, whose virtuosity is already remarkable.
Every year since the foundation's inception in 2005, current scholarship holders - among them prize-winners from national and international competitions - travel from their home countries to southern Germany. There they showcase their extraordinary abilities and bring the foundation's precious string instruments to life in a truly special concert.
