"Rock in Symphony" Vol. 6 - The Wild Eighties
In the anniversary year marking Borna's 775th birthday, the acclaimed concert series "Rock in Symphony" enters its sixth edition - this time with a special anniversary edition: "The Wild Eighties".
Together with a rock band and outstanding soloists Kai Dannowski, Stine Fischer and Alexandra Schedel, the Leipzig Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Stephan König brings the music of a decade full of emotion and upheaval back to life. The first Walkman became a sensation, the Rubik's Cube fascinated young and old alike, computer games entered children's rooms. On the radio, artists like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince, Nena and Neue Deutsche Welle shaped the sound of the era. And at the end of the decade, the changes in East Germany altered history.
Kai Dannowski, born in Zwickau, studied jazz and popular singing in Leipzig and today works as a versatile singer, pianist and bandleader on numerous stages - including with renowned orchestras and music productions.
Stine Fischer, a trained jazz and pop singer from Leipzig, has been on stage since childhood and impresses as a versatile artist between band projects, original songs and teaching work. As frontwoman of the band "Cosmic Light" and as a solo artist, she brings fresh energy and strong stage presence to the programme.
Alexandra Schedel, a jazz singer trained in Munich and Leipzig, captivates with her expressive voice both in her own projects and as a sought-after soloist on national and international stages.
This spirit of the era comes alive at the open-air concert on Volksplatz Borna. Well-known and beloved songs receive a new, orchestral and impressive sound in Stephan König's arrangements.
