Frank Sinatra Show on 04.04.2027 at the Kulturhaus Bitterfeld-Wolfen
It all started on 3 May 1993, when Roger Pabst had the chance to see Frank Sinatra live at the Deutschlandhalle in Berlin. The experience left such a mark on him that he decided to make this music himself. At the time he was not a trained vocalist but a singing guitarist who knew Sinatra mainly from his biggest worldwide hits.
He got hold of a cassette with Sinatra's greatest hits and put it in his Walkman: "I remember walking up and down the beach in Tenerife on holiday, singing along the whole time. I soon realised it somehow worked for me - though the high notes gave me trouble, so I took singing lessons."
Roger Pabst went on to form his own nine-piece band and also appeared regularly as a guest vocalist with larger orchestras and big bands at home and abroad.
Alongside the great Sinatra hits - "New York, New York" and "My Way" - the evening also features well-known swing standards and evergreens from the early years of the master's career.
All these experiences drove Roger Pabst to study the life and music of "The Voice" in depth. His outstanding artistry as a Sinatra interpreter earned him the Fachmedienpreis industry award.
Roger Pabst doesn't just sing Frankie Boy's songs - he lives them!
