Dr. Mark Benecke - Criminal Cases at the Edge of the Possible — Sparkassen-Arena Jena, Jena

Dr. Mark Benecke is chairman of the German Dracula Society and a member of the committee for the Nobel Prize for curious scientific research. He is also a published author, politician, Donaldist, and - above all - the world's most prominent criminal biologist and specialist in forensic entomology (the study of insects).

His field: murder cases that seem all but unsolvable. When investigators have run out of options, they call Mark Benecke. Every crime scene is a trove of evidence - invisible at first glance, but readable by his helpers: maggots and flies. His work is not about death itself, but about what happens after it.

When maggots expose the killer, Benecke knows he has done his job. Even the tiniest organisms on a body can provide the decisive clue. There is no such thing as a perfect murder - because insects never sleep.
